Occasionally, an angel, a paragon of virtue, a Maecenas (I ain’t afraid of no thesaurus) kicks in your door and tells you that something good is going to happen and your one and only job is to be ready for it. It may be that “being ready” means hauling 50lbs worth of paintings through Mexico on your way to Texas, but that’s a small chore compared to what awaits. So, when my agent extraordinaire, Ree Reynolds, came kicking and told me to be ready for an unforseen solo show in Austin, I said, “¡Viva México!” and loaded up some paintings.
If you’re in Austin, Texas, during the month of February, swing by Quack’s at 43rd and Duvall in Hyde Park and check out a seriously killer exhibition. Nearly thirty pieces of my artwork are hanging on the walls, but Ree and Lowell Reynolds did the real work bringing it to life – and it’s truly impressive. Emphatically splendiferous, some would say. This would be considered bragging, except that I had nothing to do with it. And seriously, it looks terrific.
Life Tip #103: Surround yourself with exceptional people more skillful than you. They’ll make you look good.
And many thanks to Shanna Teresinski, Art Coordinator at Quack’s, for extending the invitation.
